Poetry in Voice (Griffin Trust for Excellence in Poetry)
Honoured to have my poem, The New School, about the Parkland school shooting, selected for not one, but two Poetry in Voice Anthologies.
Firstly, it will appear in the Senior Poem Anthology, which is brings together poetry (and poets) from across Canada, and is designed to enrich all corners of our classrooms with Poetry. Thrilled to be sharing space with some of the greatest poets on offer, from one of my heroes, Patricia Smith, to the legendary Audre Lourde to my old friend (and legend in the making) Ian Keteku. Poetry has brought some incredible experiences into my life, and this is one of them.

Secondly, the poem will be featured in the Poetry in Voice ‘Come Together’ Mix Tape Anthology, edited by poet and musician Brendan McLeod. This collection is meant to unpack and articulate the complexities of living in community.

All I can say is I am thrilled to have my work selected as tools for promoting understanding and community. After two decades of writing and teaching that is just about the highest compliment I can receive.
