Big Weekend
Hey All,
Hope to see you out and about this weekend, as there are a huge number of amazing shows going on..first off, try and catch C.R.Avery and The Undesirables at the Rivoli tonight (July 23); you will never regret it. CR is the real deal. Honestly. Go see him. Go see. Go see him. Go see. Friday and Saturday kick off the first ever collaboration between Harbourfront and the Toronto Poetry Project, bringing you the Canadian Voices Poetry Slam. This is a huge deal for poetry and poetry lovers, since we will be performing in the beautiful Brigantine Room and follow up after some amazing musical acts. Seven poets have been chosen to compete over the two nights (lucky me, being one of them). Next up, I’ll be featuring at Pedestrian Sunday in Kensington Market (across from Moonbeams Cafe), an awesome outdoor show that brings poetry out into the sunlight. If you haven’t been there, come and check out the kaleidoscopic fusion of people, laughter, colour, music, dancing and poetry that spills out every time you block cars from city streets. Monday brings our first ever 4 Women Team Fundraiser, as we try and hustle you out of hard earned bills 🙂 in order to scrape our way to the American National Poetry Slam Championships (Palm Beach, Florida). This is going to be an amazing competition, filled with some of the best spoken word artists in the world. I plan to listen and learn as much as possible (in between visits to the beach). Lastly, Shane Koyczan will be gracing our city stages with his collective Short Story Long on Tuesday July 28 at The Drake (click here for details)… this is not one to be missed. Like CR, Shane is a force of nature.
Hope your summer has been great so far. Thanks for listening.
